...since Dave took over the role of main care giver to Gregory. It wasn't easy for him to adjust and I am sure he is looking forward in a way to go back to work. However, I see how Greg responds to him and I know that these 3 months were worth it.
Dave could experience the difficulties that normally mummies go through every day and find ways to work them out. I am proud of him truly! He started him on solid food, cradled him when cranky, took him walks and forgot himself in these 3 months. He was like a robot caring for our little one, keeping up house and cooking. I might start a discussion here, but, I think this role is easier on us women than on men. Life at home ain't easy but I am glad to be taking over once more this role and not for anything wrong that hubby did, cos he didn't ,but I missed it. I enjoyed watching them forge a relationship of friendship but I couldn't help resenting his time with him. That he knows his routine and I am in the dark of it really.
If I were to do it again? oh yes I would still give my husband 3 months, but i'd have made sure that as soon as they are over I am home and not have to wait for another month before I actually am. And yet I learnt.... I know that I will cherish my boy more when at home, that a mum will remain the lifeline in the family and possibly its why in the Maltese families the mummy is the heart of the family which seems to sometimes break when mummy is not around anymore. There is a lot to learn from a child and I look forward for my new lessons :)

nearly three months passed....

aww what a good experience for your family though...it gives daddy a confidence he otherwise may have never known, as well as an appreciation for the role that you are going to fill in the future! and as a wife its so amazing to watch the nurturing side of our husbands grow... but i bet you're counting down the days until you stay home with the little one!

I think you're right on about the difference between moms and dads. Dads love being totally involved with their families, but I think it's easier for moms to be the heart of the family. I can relate to your adjusting to life on a caribbean island--I moved here to Puerto Rico 2 years ago, and have found myself learning something of a different lifestyle.
