Crying it out the original way

Our puppy is here blabbing away while I type and research and do whatever on my laptop. Of course we are also having a conversation (though as such I got no idea what we are saying still since it amuses him and he gives me big smiles I carry on).
But the reason I am actually posting is due to a very nice article I found while going into other blogs.... the website is aware parenting and in it is an article on the origins of the let them cry it out saga which is such a bad thing to do as I am sure all of you mothers know! The origin is that the crying it out was a good thing but by the early 20th century this was distorted and changed. As crying is for us a way to release tension, this is the only tool babies have to release tension themselves. Be it a birth trauma, over stimulation, frustration etc. Of course before you let a baby to cry it out you have to make sure all his basic needs are met and when he cries NEVER leave him alone or not held. However do go and see the whole article this is just a summary - its not only interesting but also informative and gives a book list one can read.
I would defenitely wish to try it on Greg next time such a thing happens, though mustering some nerves of steel are a must to be able and hear your little one screaming it out.....
Will later do some raspberry tarts will let you know how it comes tomorrow.
